Community members interested in coaching girls' Little League softball this spring are invited to a fun and informative clinic hosted by Liz Wakefield and Amanda Pata from Grosse Pointe Little League Softball on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Neighborhood Club 17150 Waterloo, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230
Since our founding just a few years ago, our softball program has experienced exponential growth with over 350 girls from all of the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods participating each year. With additional volunteer coaches, we can help even more girls develop not only their skills, but their love of the game.
This clinic is open to anyone interested in Little League, regardless of past coaching experience or softball knowledge. We’ll explore the best way to teach young kids how to play softball and what it takes to run a successful team. We’ll also go over all the available resources and mentors on hand to help you throughout the season.
We are especially in need of female coaches. Historically, just 20% of coaching volunteers are women, and women make up less than 30% of our GPLLS Board of Directors. With the community’s help, we hope to increase those percentages to provide our girls with even more positive, relatable role models in athletics.
