Dear Grosse Pointe Softball Families,
This fall, we’re offering Sandlot Softball, a casual, informal opportunity for girls birth years 2015–2017 to continue playing softball, having fun, and building skills in a relaxed environment.
What to Expect
-
Sandlot-style Softball: Games are recreational. No uniforms, umpires, standings, or playoffs — just pure fun and development.
-
Development-Focused Practices: We want to ensure the girls have a chance to grow their skills, not just play games. That’s why we will have a weekly coach-led practice in addition to their Saturday morning game.
The approach is grounded in Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles, meaning we focus on teaching age-appropriate fundamentals like throwing, catching, hitting, and base running through fun, engaging drills. These practices are designed to support each player’s growth both on and off the field, building confidence, improving coordination & overall athleticism, and helping them fall in love with the game.
There’s no pressure to win or perform. This is about giving every girl the space to learn, explore, and enjoy the game in a positive, low-pressure environment.
